Minecraft Server Hosting

Your own Minecraft server with a revolutionary Pay-per-Play pricing model. Pay only when you play.

Why Your Own Minecraft Server?

Your own Minecraft server gives you full control over your gaming experience. You set the rules, install mods and plugins as you wish, and decide who can play on your server.

Compared to Minecraft Realms or public servers, your own server offers clear advantages:

Full Control

Install any mods, plugins, and modpacks. Configure game rules, world generation, and server settings exactly to your liking.

Better Performance

Dedicated CPU and RAM resources instead of shared hardware. Less lag, faster chunk generation, and more stable TPS.

Privacy & Security

Whitelist for controlled access. Only invited players can join your server. Regular backups protect your progress.

Unlimited Possibilities

From Vanilla Survival to modpacks like All the Mods to complex plugin setups — your own server has no limitations.

Minecraft Realms only supports 10 players, no mods, and no plugins. Your own server at playtime.hosting is more flexible, more powerful, and thanks to Pay-per-Play, often even cheaper.

Hosting Models Compared

There are different ways to run a Minecraft server. Each model has its strengths:

Shared Hosting (Traditional)

Your server shares hardware with others. Affordable (from ~€3/month), but limited control and often poor performance under heavy load.

+Affordable, easy to use
Shared resources, limited mods, often slow

Dedicated / VPS

A completely dedicated server or virtual machine. Full control and guaranteed resources, but expensive (€15-100+/month) and requires technical knowledge.

+Full control, best performance
Expensive, technically demanding, 24/7 costs

Managed On-Demand (playtime.hosting)

The best of both worlds: Dedicated resources and full control over mods/plugins, but with Pay-per-Play billing. Simple web dashboard, no technical skills needed.

+Affordable, simple, flexible, dedicated resources
Short startup time (~45s)

What to Look for in Minecraft Server Hosting

Not every hosting provider is the same. These factors are crucial for a good gaming experience:

CPU: Single-Thread Performance

Minecraft primarily uses one CPU core. Single-thread performance is therefore more important than the number of cores. Modern AMD Ryzen and Intel processors offer the best performance. Older server CPUs (Xeon) are often slower despite having more cores.

RAM: Enough, But Not Overkill

Vanilla Minecraft with few players needs 4GB RAM. Modpacks like All the Mods or RLCraft need 6-8GB. Only very large modpacks or many players (20+) need 16GB. More RAM doesn't automatically help — it's about the right amount.

Storage: SSD/NVMe is a Must

Minecraft constantly reads and writes chunk data. An NVMe SSD makes the difference between smooth gameplay and lag spikes when loading new chunks. HDD-based hosting is outdated.

Location: Proximity Matters

The closer the server is to the players, the lower the ping. For European players, servers in Germany or the Netherlands are ideal. playtime.hosting runs servers in EU data centers with excellent connectivity.

Startup Time & Availability

With on-demand hosting, startup time is crucial. playtime.hosting starts servers in under 45 seconds thanks to Kubernetes-based infrastructure. For comparison: Some providers need several minutes.

Support & Community

Good support makes the difference. playtime.hosting offers an active Discord community with fast help from other players and the team. No ticket queues — direct communication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Minecraft versions are supported?
We support all popular server variants: Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge. You can select the version when creating your server and switch anytime later.
Can I install mods and plugins?
Yes! Through our integrated modpack browser, you can install modpacks directly. Individual plugins and mods can be uploaded via the File Manager.
How much RAM does my server need?
Vanilla Minecraft with 2-5 players: 4GB (Mini Plan). Light modpacks up to 15 players: 8GB (Small Plan). Large modpacks or 15+ players: 16GB (Medium Plan). When in doubt, start with the Small Plan — you can upgrade anytime.
Is my data safe?
Your world and server data is stored on redundant NVMe storage. Additionally, you can create manual backups at any time or set up automatic backup schedules.
How do players connect to my server?
After creating your server, you receive a server address (IP + port). Simply enter this in Minecraft under 'Multiplayer > Add Server'. Your friends can connect immediately.
What does it really cost?
A typical example: Small Plan (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM), 60 play hours per month, 10GB storage = €7.84/month. A traditional provider would charge €23.99/month for this — you save 67%.
